CAKE CRUSH: A DAY WITH DON’T TELL CHARLES AND CAKES BY CLIFF

My newsfeed is constantly filled with the incredible designs of Australia’s talented curators and bakers. I wish I could create such beautiful things. When Cakes by Cliff announced his 2016 Sweet Sessions at Sydney, I immediately cleared my schedule and purchased the ticket!

This watercolor workshop, in collaboration with Don’t Tell Charles, sold out within 10 minutes. And yes, I was the person who refreshed my feed every hour on the hour in order to book a place :D.

Thao and Cliff have a great deal of patience and are excellent teachers. They took us through the entire process, which helped me to appreciate just how much there is in a recipe that goes beyond words on a sheet. They were so willing to share their secrets of success. Williams Sonoma Bondi kitchens were stunning and well-planned.

It was a great experience to meet other talented bakers all over Australia. It’s amazing how many creative people there are. I would recommend that if you’re a baker, you attend one of these workshops to expand your skills and meet like-minded people for a memorable experience. Here are a few photos of my day.

I CONFESS

The cake I made was the roughest of them all! My sharp edges were more like a butter knife than a razor blade. Since then, I’ve been trying to master these techniques.
