Heaven! Chocolate cake with homemade ice cream. Heaven!

Ingredients:

Hot Chocolate Sauce

Method:

Chocolate Cake

  1. Melt chocolate, butter, and milk in a bowl on a pan of simmering water.
  2. Mix sugar and eggs with an electric mixer until pale and thick. Gently fold in the chocolate mixture. Mix flour and cocoa into the batter.
  3. Pour the mixture into a 23cm buttered cake pan with sides and a base that has been lined. Bake at 160degC for 45-50 minutes or until skewer tests show it is cooked.
  4. After 5 minutes, turn the pan upside down and let it cool for another 5 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack. Use a serrated blade to cut the cake in half. Refrigerate until chilled.

Hot Chocolate Sauce

  1. Heat the creme fraiche until it is just simmering. Remove from heat, and add extra chocolate. Stir until smooth.
  2. Place the bottom half of the cake on a platter. Scoop ice cream over it and then sandwich it with the remaining cake.
  3. Serve the cake immediately with some warm sauce. Slice the cake and serve it immediately, with additional sauce.
