Recipe by Devondale farmer Jenny Bongers This chocolate cake was given to me about 14 years ago. This is a favorite in the family, and it’s always requested at birthdays, weddings, and other family events.



  1. In 30-second intervals, melt butter and choc-melts in the microwave. Stir each time to ensure that they are melted. On high, microwave for 2 minutes
  2. Mix the flour, sugar, and eggs well. Mix well
  3. Cook in a lined 8″ (22cm) round tin (gas oven 120degC, or 160degC with fan for 1h30 minutes).
  4. Let cool in the tin. Dust with cocoa, and serve with whipped Cream.
